PCR is offering one class for Winter 2016 -- Introduction to Programming. The class is open to interested 5th and 6th grade PCR students. Descriptions of the courses are below:
Introduction to Programming - For students who have not programmed before or who have only a small amount of programming experience. We will go over variables, functions, conditionals, recursion and loops, while helping a simulated robot carry missions. Students write missions in Python, a popular programming language used in academia and industry.
Open to: PCR students in 5th and 6th grades
Class Dates: 10 sessions from February 18th to April 21st
Day & Time: Thursdays, 3:00 – 4:15 pm
Location: PCR Media Lab (formerly the PCR Computer Lab)

PCR also participated in the Hour of Code event in the Spring of 2015. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 170+ countries. Parent volunteers and PCR teachers presented one-hour, in-class programming tutorials for all PCR students during the 2014-15 school year. Enthusiasm was very high for the event.
